Creating promotions
Creating promotions

A promotion is a discount granted on the amount of the customer's purchase. This discount can be associated to one or several products, to the shipping cost or to a gift, for example. VTEX offers the following types of promotions: Regular, Buy Together, More for Less, Progressive Discount, Buy One Get One, and Campaign Promotion.

In this article, you will find step-by-step instructions on how to:

Creating promotions

Follow the tutorial below to create a regular promotion.

  1. Access the Promotions menu.
  2. Click on Promotions.
  3. Click on the Create promotion button.
  4. Select Regular.
  5. Fill in the fields.
  6. Click on Save.

Filtering or searching for promotions

Once created, a promotion can be found using the filter or the search bar.

Filtering promotions

To use the filter tool, follow the steps below:

  1. Access the Promotions menu.
  2. Click on Promotions.
  3. Indicate whether you want to search for a promotion in Archived Promotions.
  4. By selecting , you can refine your search by filtering by Status – Active, Scheduled, Paused and Completed.
  5. Select a promotion type from the following options: Regular Promotion, Buy Together - Bundle, More for Less, Progressive Discount, Buy One Get One, and Campaign Promotion.

Searching for promotions

To search for a promotion, follow the steps below:

  1. Access the Promotions menu.
  2. Click on Promotions.
  3. In the search bar, enter the name, description, UTM or trade policy registered in the promotion.

Sorting promotions

You can sort the promotions created by status or by name. This resource is intended to help you find a promotion that you want to check or modify. To sort them, follow the steps below:

  1. Access the Promotions menu.
  2. Click on Promotions.
  3. Click on Sort by.
  4. Select Status or Name, and the page will be updated according to your choice.

Modifying promotions

You can change the settings and data of any promotion by following the steps below:

  1. Access the Promotions menu.
  2. Click on Promotions.
  3. Find the promotion you want to modify.
  4. Click on the promotion card.
  5. Make the necessary changes.
  6. Click on Save.

Scheduling promotions

A promotion is scheduled when it is created (or modified) with a valid date and time later than the current date and time. The time considered is that of the computer system in which the promotion was created, regardless of time zone settings.

These promotions can be easily identified on the main Promotions page: they have an orange stripe with the word scheduled in the upper right corner of the card, as shown below.

To schedule a promotion, follow the steps described in the Scheduling promotions section of the article Scheduling features for special events.

Archiving promotions

If you no longer want a promotion to be used, you can move it to the list of archived promotions, which will automatically change its status to Inactive. To archive a promotion, follow the steps below:

  1. Access the Promotions menu.
  2. Click on Promotions.
  3. Use the search tools to find the promotion you want to archive.
  4. When you find the promotion you are looking for, click on the Archive button in the lower right corner of the card.
  5. Confirm the action by clicking on Archive again.
  6. To view the archived promotion, select the Archived Promotions option in the upper right corner of the page.
